Inspired by the legacy of Goswami Ganesh Datt Ji, a revered Sanatan scholar and social reformer of Baijnath, local community leaders and religious heads came together to establish the first Sanatan Dharam school in Baijnath. The founding mission was simple yet profound: provide every child — regardless of economic background — access to education rooted in values, discipline, and devotion.
The Society was formally registered as a non-governmental educational trust under the Society Registration Act. The first decade saw the establishment of three schools across Baijnath, Paprola, and Bhangrotu, with affiliation from the Himachal Pradesh Board of School Education (HPBOSE). Enrolment crossed 1,000 students for the first time.
The 1990s marked rapid growth — new school buildings were constructed, science laboratories were established, and the Society introduced structured cultural programmes including annual Sanskrit competitions, Navratri celebrations, and community havan ceremonies. The Society received recognition from the State Education Department for outstanding community contribution.
Entering the new millennium, the Society embraced modern education infrastructure — computer labs, digital classrooms, and sports facilities — while deepening its cultural programmes. The Vedic Vidyalaya at Jogindernagar was established to offer a dedicated Sanskrit and Vedic studies curriculum. Student enrolment reached 5,000 across all institutions.
The Society launched a comprehensive scholarship programme for meritorious and economically disadvantaged students. Mid-day meal programmes, free textbook drives, and digital literacy initiatives were introduced. A dedicated girls' school was established in Dharamshala to promote gender equity in education. Total schools in the network grew to 10.
Despite the challenges of the pandemic era, the Society successfully transitioned to hybrid learning models, ensuring educational continuity for over 8,000 students. Today, with 12+ schools, 450+ educators, and a thriving community of alumni, the Society looks forward to establishing a model university-level institution that carries the Sanatan Dharam ethos into higher education.
